Andrew "Andy" VanLoocke is an Associate Professor in Agronomy at Iowa State University. His team uses a combination of field studies, agroecosystems models and remote sensing to quantify the impacts of land use change motivated by renewable energy and bio products on local and regional carbon, water, and nitrogen cycles. Within Grass2Gas, he is contributing to Goal 2 by developing a platform to produce subfield estimates of the growth and production of cover crops and prairie as biogas feedstocks and the associated agroecosystems cycling changes relative to the existing annual cropping systems practices.
